Behind The Designs…

Located in the heart of historical downtown Sandusky, Ohio, a vibrant fusion of art awaits you at Everwild Spirits. As you approach the our establishment, your eyes are immediately drawn to the captivating murals adorning the building—invoking a testament to creativity, heritage, and community spirit.

Step into the courtyard patio, and you'll encounter a unique set of "wings," each intricately crafted from the elemental ingredients essential to the distilling process: Water, Wood, Fire, and Steam. Inspired by the iconic "wings" murals found in cities across the nation, owners Rick and Gia sought to create a local landmark that not only beckons for selfies but also embodies the essence of their distillery.

One particularly notable mural pays homage to a cinematic icon deeply rooted in Sandusky's cultural fabric—Tommy Boy. Depicting the beloved character played by Chris Farley, this mural commemorates the upcoming 30th anniversary of the film. Everwild Spirits has been actively engaged with city officials, including Jason Werling, to designate March 31st as "Tommy Boy Day" and potentially establish an annual festival celebrating the movie's legacy!

Venture further, and you'll discover a driveway mural that serves as a visual ode to the distilling craft. Featuring a montage of elements integral to the process—grains, water, steam, fire, and oak barrels—the mural also pays tribute to the Lynch family's distilling lineage. The central figure, John Kennedy Lynch, stands as a representation of generations of dedication and passion for the art of distillation. His legacy, spanning from 1880 in Oswego, NY, to the present-day Everwild Spirits, speaks volumes about the enduring spirit of craftsmanship.

Behind these breathtaking murals stands Cathy Tyda, the talented artist whose brush strokes bring these visions to life. A self-professed Tommy Boy enthusiast, Cathy's work reflects a deep appreciation for storytelling and visual expression. Based near Bowling Green, she infuses each mural with a blend of skill, passion, and reverence for the subjects she portrays. Everwild Spirits looks forward to collaborating with Cathy on future projects, enriching the local landscape with her artistry.

At Everwild Spirits Restaurant and Distillery, the walls don't just talk—they sing with the echoes of history, culture, and creativity. Each mural is more than just a painting; it's a testament to the power of art to connect, inspire, and celebrate. So, the next time you find yourself in Sandusky, take a stroll down memory lane with Tommy Boy or spread your wings in the courtyard of Everwild Spirits. After all, in this haven where art and distilling converge, every corner tells a story waiting to be discovered.
